A great recognition
In the Sala Sinopoli of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the numerous successes that Italian sport has managed to achieve during 2024 with great spirit of sacrifice and determination were celebrated in a solemn ceremony, bringing us all great satisfaction and deep pride. The Golden Collar for sporting merit is the highest honor awarded by the Italian National Olympic Committee, which for each of the winners represents a great recognition for all the efforts and commitment made in sporting activity. At the forefront of the awardees Gabriel Rossetti, the policeman of the Fiamme Oro from Ponte Buggianese (PT) with his third gold medal (the previous two date back to 2016 and 2017, ed.), who together with Diana Bacosi, a standard-bearer of the Army originally from Città della Pieve who was absent due to illness, last August 5 defeated 45 to 44 the extraordinary American couple formed by the Olympic medallists Austen Smith and Vincent Hancock, deserving the Olympus of Skeet at the most important sporting event on the planet.
Malagò's encouragement
The ceremony opened with the reading of a letter from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in which she congratulated the athletes, coaches and support staff for the extraordinary results achieved at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which were higher in terms of medals than those of Tokyo 2020, the best Olympics ever for Italy up to this edition. CONI President Giovanni Malagò then took the floor to give his personal encouragement to all the athletes who represent our Tricolor to never give up and always give their best despite the already excellent results achieved by Italian sport in the world.
The personalities present
Also on stage was Luca Pancalli, President of the CIP, who in his speech wanted to thank all those who are part of the ecosystem in which an athlete lives every day and where he trains every day, namely the Federations and Sports Groups, Technicians, Military Corps and even the families of the athletes themselves. Among the various personalities present were also the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, the General Secretary of CONI Carlo Mornati and the General Secretary of the CIP Juri Stara. For the Shooting to celebrate even more closely our Gabriele Rossetti, present in the audience were the Federal President Luciano Rossi and the General Secretary Mario Magnanini (source: FITAV).
