Satellite telemetry
There are five scientific contributions accepted by the Scientific Committee of the XXII National Ornithology Conference, which concern research promoted by the Faunistic and Agro-Environmental Studies and Research Office of Federcaccia Nazionale. The Conference will be held in Lecce from 8 to 12 September and will host symposiums and thematic round tables on the research and conservation of wild birds. Federcaccia will be present with five posters: two concern the recent 2024 and 2025 results of satellite telemetry on the woodcock and the song thrush, carried out in direct collaboration with the University of Milan; the other three present the results obtained with the collection of the wings of the turtledove, pochard, snipe and whip.
The role of Federcaccia
For the first time, in particular on woodcock, the data collected by ISPRA with the same method were analyzed in the same poster. The presence of these works in an official context further legitimises the role of Federcaccia in the field of research and demonstrates how the data and investments made have led to concrete results on the knowledge of huntable species.
Research and management
It is well known how important it is to collect data and produce research that can contribute to the correct management of hunting and to support with scientific arguments the proposals of the hunting world at national, regional and European level. Research and management are the watchwords for the hunting of the future, and Federcaccia has made them its own for some time now. This conference and the accepted scientific contributions confirm the correctness of the choices adopted (Office of Studies and Research of Wildlife and Agro-Environment, Italian Hunting Federation).
