The new updates
The Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta has released data on African swine fever relating to 26 December 2023: the positives are 539 in Piedmont, 594 in Liguria. The definitive data of the positivities found from 27 December 2021 to 26 December 2023 have been provided.
The numbers in detail
The positive cases are now 1.133, twenty-six more than the previous update, for twenty-four cases reported in Liguria where the total grows to 594; for two in Piedmont where the identified cases rise to 539. The twenty-four new Ligurian cases were detected in the province of Genoa: three in Borzonasca (twenty-two since the beginning of the emergency), one in Davagna (twelve), one in Fascia (two), two in Fontanigorda (twenty-one), six in Genoa (fifty-three), two in Lumarzo (eleven), two in Moconesi (three), two in Montebruno (seven), one in Propata (seven), two in Rovegno (forty-two), one in Santo Stefano d'Aveto (four), one in Zoagli (first case).
At least one positive
The two new Piedmontese cases were confirmed in the province of Alessandria: both in Montaldo Bormida (eleven). With the Zoagli case, the number of municipalities in which at least one positive case of African Swine Fever has been observed rises to 123 (source: IZS Liguria).
