Rome, 24 May 2023 - More than 40 tons of abandoned waste removed from the environment: a weight equivalent to that of 4 trucks. This is the extraordinary result achieved by Operation Paladini del Territorio. The numbers of the success of the initiative promoted by UNA Foundation - Man, Nature, Environment – and created to actively contribute to the care of green areas and the environment speak for themselves: for the second edition of the project, over a hundred path restoration activities, planting activities and initiatives were organized throughout Italy discovery of the territory, mobilizing over 130 provincial and municipal sections of the various hunting associations (primarily Federcaccia, Enalcaccia and Arcicaccia) and engaging more than 4000 volunteers in 15 Italian regions, creating concrete benefits for more than 4 million citizens living in the affected areas.
Among the 40 tons of waste removed from the environment, quantity that doubles the results of the first edition of 2022, there are various particularly dangerous wastes, such as asbestos and used syringes, but also bulky waste, abandoned for some time in natural areas, such as tyres, broken household appliances, bicycles and other means of transport, iron and metal waste, all materials whose average time of decomposition largely exceeds one hundred years.
There have also been various initiatives aimed at restoring paths, beaches, green and urban areas, which in addition to involving various citizens together with hunting associations, have aroused the interest and gratitude of the residents. In particular, a significant testimony of the importance of these activities, and of the commitment made by the volunteers, has come from Calabria, Lombardia e Puglia, where over 1300 people took part in the operations organized in the area. Other noteworthy initiatives were held in the province of Pordenone, Pistoia e Macerata. Furthermore, the restoration of the paths and the care of the vegetation were at the center of the activities carried out at Angrogna (Turin), Pisogne (Brescia), Frigole (Lecce), Numana (Ancona) e Todi (Perugia).
The involvement of women who have led various actions in the Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Tuscany e Puglia.
Still other initiatives have distinguished themselves for having been able to combine cleaning and waste removal with projects aimed at stimulate a deeper knowledge of the territory, organizing educational walks, tours to discover the green areas normally not frequented by citizens, as was the case for the days organized in Cloud (Brescia) e Marsala (Trapani). Furthermore, environmental education lessons, aimed at disseminating good practices in separate waste collection and the discovery of flora and fauna, were aimed at children and teenagers involved in environmental restoration activities, such as Rignano sull'Arno (Florence), Poggiofiorito (Chieti), San Prisco (Caserta) e Marano Equo (Rome).
"The extraordinary results of the Operation, which even double what was achieved in 2022, are testimony to the commitment and dedication of the hunting world in assuming the mandate of Paladin of the territories in which it operates, guardian of biodiversity and naturalistic balances . The large participation in these initiatives repays all the efforts that the Foundation has made, and will continue to make, in the name of environmental protection" he has declared Maurizio Zipponi, president of the UNA Foundation, commenting on the great success of the second edition of Operation Paladini del Territorio. “I thank the municipal, provincial and regional sections of the Italian hunting associations Federcaccia, Arcicaccia, Enalcaccia, who have been able to work in concert with the other territorial associations, institutions and citizens, to demonstrate, once again, what it means to be responsible, concretely, for the protection of the territory and its preservation."
The success recorded by the second edition of Operation Paladini del Territorio, which involved over 4000 people, is the result of willingness of all the actors involved to act positively on their territory. Through the initiatives of the Paladins, the UNA Foundation renews its commitment to spreading a greater awareness of hunting activity, to be understood as ethical and useful, to guarantee the maintenance of natural balances.
A heartfelt thanks goes to all the associations that participated in the initiative:

FOUNDATION ONE
Through a new environmental chain, made up of sometimes contrasting realities, the UNA Foundation is committed to the protection and management of nature, contributing to the well-being of the community. In fact, environmentalist, agricultural and hunting realities converge in it, together with scientific and academic ones, which by sharing common objectives and collaborating around concrete projects, act synergistically towards the shared goal of creating a sustainable territorial and environmental context.
One of the foundations of the UNA Foundation is the protection of biodiversity through its active commitment to face and seek solutions to emergencies that threaten its balance, through the implementation of targeted activities and projects.
