Very serious injuries
His name was Albert Stockner and he was 73 years old: these are the details of the man found in a state of hypothermia last Sunday in Velturno (Bolzano) with wounds on his body that were deemed compatible with dog bites one or more wolves. The elderly man later died in hospital and now we need to understand what caused his death.
Not just the wolf hypothesis
The most popular hypothesis is that of a wolf, but an attack by a jackal cannot be ruled out. The 73-year-old's clothes will now be examined by the March Foundation laboratory in San Michele all'Adige to dispel any doubts. Not much is known about the last hours of this person's life.
Research and discovery
It seems that the elderly man never returned to the retirement home where he was a guest. The searches began immediately, but without success, until the victim was found in the morning. He was unconscious, lying on a lawn and in hypothermia: resuscitation on site and transport to hospital unfortunately did not prevent his death.
