The new legislative provision, published on March 27, 2026 (Official Journal number 72 of March 27, 2026), introduces a measure to support amateur sports, providing for a tax exemption on prizes paid to athletes.
Withholding tax at source
As regards the skeet shootingFor amounts paid to athletes participating in amateur sports events, the 20% withholding tax will not apply up to a total of €300 for each beneficiary, between the entry into force of the decree and December 31, 2026. This €300 amount will be calculated for each individual ASD/SSD. If the total amount of prizes received exceeds this threshold, the entire amount will be subject to a 20% tax.
Concrete benefits
This important result was achieved after months of negotiations, which saw President Luciano Rossi at the forefront of promoting and obtaining concrete benefits for athletes, despite the tense and challenging period facing the Italian government.
