Data discrepancy
Since last week Hare hunting in the Brescia ATC is closed, due to the provision that imposed a ban if at least eighty percent of the permitted harvest was not declared. As always, this decision has sparked some controversy regarding its timing and the fact that it was brought forward a month from the normal closure date. However, we'd like to raise two points. Some say there may be a discrepancy between the reported harvest data, which is less, and the actual harvest data recorded on the hunting license, which is more.
Other considerations
This, if true, would be self-defeating, because if eighty percent of the harvests had been recorded, hare hunting would continue today until its natural expiration. The second consideration concerns the effects of the closure; we believe that, if a good number of hares remain in the area, they are certainly very important with respect to possible outcomes for next year, as they are now acclimated and better able to reproduce.
Collection of foxes
While hare hunting is closed, the possibility of hunting foxes remains open, even with the aid of hounds, in organized teams throughout the area. This is what our members expect to be able to do as soon as the UTR authorization decree in response to the Brescia ATC request is issued, also to provide a more welcoming environment for game in future repopulations (source: FIDC Brescia-Cacciapensieri).
