Financing in detail
"11 projects for Natura 2000 areas in Abruzzo have been funded, for a total of €1,760 billion, with the aim of implementing measures to reduce the risk of accidents with wildlife, improve organic waste management, and promote the renaturalization of our ecosystems." This was announced in a statement by the Vice President of the Abruzzo Regional Council and Councilor for Agriculture, Parks, and Nature Reserves. Imprudent Emanuele, following the approval of the ranking of the Notice “Protection of biodiversity and improvement of natural ecosystems within Natura 2000 sites”, financed by the POR FESR Abruzzo 2021–2027.
Fences, bollards and safety
With the aim of strengthening the protection of nature and biodiversity, improving the quality of ecosystems and reducing environmental pressures, even in urban contexts, the Abruzzo Region has approved a ranking of municipalities for actions aimed at reducing the risk of accidents with wildlife through dedicated crossings, fencing, deterrents and the safety of reservoirs, improving organic waste management in urban centers, as well as renaturalization and encouraging the establishment of native species, with the aim of mitigating conflicts between human activities and biodiversity.
Support for local authorities
"In a region like Abruzzo, over 35% of its total surface area is protected, thanks to European funding we have made concrete resources and tools available to protect and enhance our natural heritage, primarily the Marsican brown bear, and to harmonize the relationship between humanity and nature," Imprudente continues. "The goal is to support local authorities in managing protected areas and promote intelligent and sustainable interventions, in the knowledge that protecting habitats is a lever for growth, identity, and investment in the future."
