“On the management of wildlife, the time has come to give immediate and effective answers to the requests of the companies operating in the agricultural and livestock sector. We no longer have time to waste, we need to act now, urgently, with rapid and concrete measures also to counterbalance the effects of a crisis that directly affects production and procurement costs". Thus, the vice president of the regional council and councilor for agriculture of theAbruzzo, Imprudent Emanuele, following the meeting of the agricultural policy commission of the Conference of the Regions, in the presence of the undersecretary of the Ministry of ecological transition, Vannia Gava, called to make concrete proposals on the critical issues related to wildlife management and sustainable agriculture.
The Regions have agreed on the need to implement immediate and urgent measures which include, among other things, control plans to be activated with the hunt technique, the expansion of hunting activities, or rather of hunting times for ungulates, and interventions aimed at exercising control plans even within protected areas. In addition, the regions are asking urgent decisions also on the payment of wildlife damage to farmers, drawing on the resources from government concessions for hunting and a reform of the ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) on a regional basis.
"It is a problem that can no longer be deferred - declared the commissioner Imprudent - which must be faced with the utmost seriousness and using all the tools available to the Regions and the Government. For our part, until now we have experienced all possible actions, obviously within the limits permitted by law. We must continue to work in this direction - said Imprudent - but we asked the Government, which through Undersecretary Vannia Gava, said he was available, urgent and exceptional measures that allow to intensify the hunting activity on ungulates and the possibility of acting also on the overabundance of deer and roe deer, which damage valuable crops such as vineyards, olive trees and truffle plants ”.
