The Abruzzo situation
The European Union voted in favor of excluding the area of the provinces of Rieti and L'Aquila from those subject to restriction due to the presence of cases of African swine fever (PSA). Abruzzo, therefore, is once again classified as completely free from the infection, which affects pigs and is not transmissible to humans.
A joint and constant commitment
This was communicated by the Veterinary Service of the Health Department of the Region, specifying that the EU Decision (which will be formally notified in these days) will be followed by the administrative measures of competence for the revocation of the restriction and monitoring measures. A result achieved thanks to the constant joint commitment of the Region, Asl, Izs and veterinarians, who since last February have worked in collaboration for the elaboration of an action plan aimed at preventing the spread of the infection.
Approval of the plan
A confrontation that led to the approval, on May 13, of the "Regional plan of urgent interventions for the management, control and eradication of African Swine Fever", already applied on May 30 for the management of a case in the province of Rieti in which the municipal territory of Cagnano Amiterno was also involved (source: Abruzzo region).
