New legal defeat
A new, important chapter in the story of the derogation of the hunting of finches and starlings in Lombardy. The Council of State has rejected the request for immediate precautionary suspension presented by the animal rights groups that had appealed. The environmental groups had formally filed an appeal after suffering a defeat at the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court, which had previously rejected their request for immediate suspension. stop regional resolutions (resolutions that also received the approval of ISPRA – Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research).
Animal rights activists' demands
Despite the previous ruling in favor of the Region, environmentalists have asked the highest administrative court to review the TAR's ruling and immediately suspend the ongoing derogation hunting.
The legal battle continues
The derogation hunting continues, but the legal battle is far from over. The hearing to discuss the precautionary measures has been scheduled for October 30th, when the parties will meet again. For this reason, animal rights groups had requested swifter intervention from the President of the Council of State, without waiting for the Region and the hunting associations to defend the case (source: FIDC Lombardia).
