The news concerning around 1400 is not good hunters of the Aosta Valley. As reported by The print, this is the number of people who will be forced to pay 55 euros more this year. What justified such an increase? The region can rely on a brand new law that was passed by the Valley Council. The legislative text provided that the Valle d'Aosta itself undertakes to turn to the Hunting Committee only 40% of the proceeds obtained from the concession fee: so far the percentage had been double (80% therefore) and this change cannot fail to affect the shotguns.
The remaining 40% is now being held by the northern region itself to secure compensation for the damage caused to agricultural crops by wildlife. The Aosta Valley hunters will therefore be obliged to cover the missing funding.
Just in the last hours the Regional Council has established the minimum and maximum amounts of what is already defined as a "tax". At the beginning of this August there was talk of the Aosta Valley after the provocative proposal of Legambiente and the Pro Natura Foundation, according to which hunters should pay out of their own pockets for the culled animals.
