Appeal over child rings in Lombardy: the latest news

The regional hunting federation spoke about it in light of the hearing that took place yesterday.

Request for suspension

At the hearing which took place yesterday morning, Tuesday 14 April 2026, in light of the Region's commitment not to proceed with the rings Until the case is decided, if the TAR has set a hearing date, the appellant has renounced the request for suspension of the regional provisions.

Waiting for November

The appeal will be heard on November 5th. Meanwhile, everything remains on hold until the ruling, which will be issued by the end of November. The appeal will then most likely be heard before the Council of State in 2027, as announced by Federcaccia Lombardia.

The most recent decree

With the publication of Decree No. 1818 of February 12, 2026, the Lombardy Region defined the operating procedures for the replacement and issuance of tags (so-called "rings") for birds used as live decoys. These rules aim to ensure the irremovability of identification systems and comply with European regulations on the conservation of wild birds.
