The regional section of the Puglia ofNational Free Hunting Association made a very specific proposal regarding the approval of the new one Hunting Wildlife Plan. ANLC asked the Region to suppress and downsize four oases of protection which are found in this territory for a total of more than 500 hectares. The plan in question will be valid until 2023 (five years to be precise) and the chosen areas are all in Salento.
In fact, we are talking about the 59-hectare oasis located in Spirito Santo, specifically between the municipalities of Alezio and Gallipoli. In this case, the alarm was raised by several city councilors, intending to avoid suppression due to what would be environmental and naturalistic damage. The other oases to be opened for hunting are soon mentioned. In fact, we must not forget the 80 hectares of the Torre Veneri oasis, along the Lecce coast.
The same goes for Masseria Zanzara (between the municipalities of Nardò and Leverano), to be reduced from 258 to 81 hectares, and then the largest ever. The largest area is Masseria Tonda with its almost 200 hectares between Salve and Presicce (always in the Lecce area). The areas are contiguous to already existing regional natural parks and now we will see the response of the Puglia Region and above all of the Department of Agriculture.
