Following the meeting held at the offices of The Tuscan Regional Authority for the presentation of the proposal for the 2024/25 Hunting Calendar, the Bureau of Arci Caccia met and formulated a series of observations.
Greater certainty for hunters
Given that our association represents those who practice hunting and therefore works to guarantee them the widest and most satisfactory hunting times that science and law allow, we believe it is essential that the Calendar that the Council will approve provides the greatest possible certainties to hunters in theme of times and methods of hunting.
Migratory and beyond
Here are the observations:
- Postponement of the opening or limitation to three fixed days only in the morning for the first 15 days: the validity of the arguments provided is acknowledged, but the impossibility of adhering to the request without a process of sharing and discussion with the hunters is noted. The Region is requested to start this process now, with a view to the 2025/26 Hunting Calendar.
- Pre-opening and removal of the wild dove: we ask for confirmation of the two days of pre-opening for the derogated species and the inclusion of the wild dove in this if the conditions exist. It seems appropriate to us that the Region takes action with the Ministry and European bodies, given the virtuous harvesting of this animal, monitored via the electronic card, to try to increase the number of huntable animals. Leaving the wild dove huntable only from the general opening, when it has now abandoned our territory, seems to us to be an unacceptable mockery of hunters.
- We give a favorable opinion on the annual game bag set by the Region for redwings and fieldfares. There is no doubt that the possible early closure of the hunt for these two species must be avoided with every means in our possession.
