The beginnings
It was Wednesday, August 4, 1926, when Ettore Stacchini gathered representatives of thirty clubs from across the country in Rome to form the Italian Clay Pigeon Shooting Federation , signing its Articles of Association. The following year, in 1927, the Federation officially took the name of the Italian Clay Pigeon Shooting Federation and became part of the Italian National Olympic Committee with 151 affiliated clubs, 916 registered shooters, and Stacchini himself as President. Today, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, we celebrate the centenary of our founding together. This milestone tells the story of a century of history, built thanks to the work, dedication, and passion of all those who, over the years, have contributed to making the Italian Clay Pigeon Shooting Federation an international benchmark.
The words of President Rossi
In anticipation of the official celebration on November 14th, we have chosen to entrust this day's message to those who have dedicated their entire lives to clay shooting: first as a enthusiast, then as an athlete, then as an Italian athlete, then as a Federal Councilor, President of FITAV, and President of the International Federation, Luciano Rossi. "Our first, dutiful thanks go to the many people who have allowed us to reach this important milestone. Women and men who represent the best of Italy, capable of establishing itself worldwide and becoming a universally recognized example of excellence. Starting with our founder, Ettore Stacchini, a visionary entrepreneur who brought extraordinary energy to unite the many existing organizations of the time and create a single Federation.
The Vision of a Giant
Along with him, our thanks go to the athletes, coaches, enthusiasts, and industry companies who have navigated this century with determination and tenacity. A hundred years filled with change, during which our Olympic Committee also faced challenging times, overcome thanks to the vision of a giant like Giulio Onesti, who made CONI a model of international reference. They have been a hundred years of successes, but also of defeats, faced with the understanding that every difficulty represents an opportunity for growth. It is with this spirit that we must look to the future: building on the experience of those who came before us and facing the challenges that await us with courage and dedication. Our history is not just made up of the medals won by our athletes in Olympic, non-Olympic, and Paralympic activities.
Many evolutions
It is made up above all of people who have set a good example through their behavior, their spirit of sacrifice, and the passion they have put into serving the Federation. We must take inspiration from them to face the rapid changes that await us, knowing how to seize all the opportunities. We Italians do not stop in the face of problems: we face them and overcome them, becoming stronger each time. Throughout this long journey, we have valued the experience of those who came before us and, even with a touch of madness, we have grown together, without forgetting or leaving anyone behind.
