Meeting in Nicosia
Only ten days of break after the World Cup in Peru and the World Shooting Championship meets in Nicosia (Cyprus) for the third Test of ISSF World Cup, scheduled on the platforms of the Olympic Shooting Range “Lakis Psimolophitis”. In total, there will be 351 athletes competing, representing 54 nations. The first to compete will be the Skeet specialists. The Italian team, led by National Technical Director Luigi Lodde, will leave Rome tomorrow morning and will begin free training on May 2.
First official appointment
Representing us in this competition will be Elia Sdruccioli (Army) from Ostra (AN), Erik Pittini (Fiamme Oro) from Sutrio (UD) and Valerio Palmucci (Fiamme Oro) from Fiano Romano (RM) for the men and Chiara Di Marziantonio (Army) from Cerenova (RM), Martina Maruzzo (Army) from Nanto (VI) and Sara Bongini (Fiamme Oro) from Impruneta (FI) for the women. On the platform for the ISSF Ranking points only there will be Marco Sablone (Fiamme Oro) and Damina Paolacci (Fiamme Oro) both from Rome. For them the first official appointment will be with the Pre-Event Training on Sunday 4 May, while the actual competition will take place on Monday 5, Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 May.
Official training sessions
The Trap Team led by Technical Director Marco Conti will also arrive in Nicosia on Tuesday 6 May. Mauro De Filippis (Fiamme Oro) from Taranto, Fabio Sollami from Caltanissetta and Diego Valeri (Navy) from Artena (RM) will travel with him for the Men's Team and Marialucia Palmitessa (Fiamme Oro) from Monopoli (BA), Alessia Iezzi (Carabinieri) from Manoppello (PE) and Erica Sessa (Fiamme Oro) from Cava de' Tirreni (SA) for the Women's Team. Angelo Scalzone (Army) from Trecate (NO) and Sofia Littamè (Air Force) from Baone (PD) will also be on the platform only for the ISSF Ranking points. Their official training sessions are scheduled for Thursday 8 May, while the competition will take place on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May.
