It was registered by a majority in Regional Council of Basilicata the motion wanted by the regional councilor Piergiorgio Quarto on the issue ofwild boar emergency. Basilicata, like all other regions, is experiencing the problem of an invasive presence of wild boars which end up causing considerable damage to agricultural activities and road traffic, from the results, in some cases, even dramatic ones for the life of the people involved. The invasive presence of the species is also to the detriment of global ecosystems and biodiversity, since it is able to adapt to any territory and environment, outnumbering other species and causing their progressive disappearance.
"The alarm - explains councilor Quarto - was given with great concern by the most representative trade associations on the national territory and the topic was addressed by the Councilors for Agricultural Policies of the Regions who asked the Ministers of Ecological Transition and Agriculture to revise Law 157/1992, to adapt the list of subjects who can contribute to the containment and control of fauna in the wake of the most recent interventions of the Constitutional Court.
In fact, the device of the motion urges the regional government to support the legislative proposal in the competent national offices 'Interventions for the prevention and containment of damage to the wild boar species' advanced by the Coldiretti National Confederation which intends to simplify the regulations on the matter, introducing changes to the Law 157 / 1992". The establishment and convocation of an emergency table is also required, involving at the regional level the parties responsible for dealing in various capacities with thewild boar emergency.
