Introduced in 2021, the "first" Beretta rifle, called the Brx1, is now fully mature in 2026 and is already available in the Brx1 "standard" versions, Iron Sights (iron sights), Wild Boar (orange stock, iron sights), Western Hunting (green polymer stock, carbon-coated barrel, .300 Winchester Magnum caliber), and Strata (True Timber Strata camo stock). Beretta's goal in the coming years is to further expand the range to cater to various types of hunters and increase the number of calibers, which are currently six: .243 Winchester, 6,5 Creedmoor, .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Win Mag, 7 Rem Mag.
The latest version of the Brx1, presented in February 2025, is called Ranch and is aimed at a public of wild boar hunters or trackers, attractive for the Italian market, but also in demand in France and Australia, for example.

It stands out for its short barrel (410 or 460 mm), the 10-round black and orange high-visibility polymer magazine with double release button, the .308 caliber that will likely be joined by 6,5, .30-06 and .300 and the high-performance polymer stock painted Flat dark earth with a black Spyderweb embossed texture for a better grip. Compactness and ease of handling, but also maximum firepower for the Brx1 Ranch.

Two barrel lengths
The barrel is bored and cold-hammer forged with the cartridge chamber, vacuum-stretched, blued, and secured to the stock's V-shaped bedding with two screws and a steel dowel. It is perfectly interchangeable, without the risk of losing accuracy or optic calibration. It is equipped with a Picatinny rail on the Ranch. It has a 19 mm profile and a 5/8"-24 muzzle thread with a thread cover for a muzzle brake or sound moderator (where legal). The rifling twist is 1:10".

These features blend with the typical features of the Brx1 which are the speed of the straight-pull linear loading system, the precision of the interchangeable barrel and the numerous safety, modularity and customization features.
The linear bolt is reversible, making it ambidextrous, as is the ejection port: disassembly is easy and requires no tools. The locking system features an 8-lug rotating head (16 in two rows for magnum calibers), a safety already used on military weapons. The safety has three positions (fire and reload, trigger locked and bolt free for safe loading and unloading, trigger and bolt locked).

The trigger is direct and the pull weight can be adjusted to three different positions (from 950 to 1.500 grams) using the easily removable sliding button on the right side of the trigger group. The stock and forend feature two sling swivel attachments; the pistol grip is interchangeable; the stock length (LOP) is adjustable, starting from 365 mm, using spacers and extralight recoil pads of various sizes.

More calibers will arrive
The BRX1 Ranch I tested was equipped with the powerful Steiner e-Ranger 8 3-24×56 riflescope, which isn't exactly ideal for a driven hunt optic. A few shots with the Sako Gamehead Pro, loaded with a 165 gr controlled-expansion bullet (815 m/sec), revealed that accuracy and reliability are typical characteristics of the BRX1 platform, and this Ranch setup delivers on both counts.

Despite the barrel being just 410 mm long, for a total length of 935 mm, recoil is easily controlled. At 100 meters, the first three-shot group remained within the minute of angle, and muzzle climb was very low, thanks in part to the muzzle brake (available aftermarket).
The trigger pull is beautiful and easy to control, shattering like a crystal. For driven hunts, the shorter barrel ensures greater lightness (3.100 grams) and faster swing while maintaining perfect balance, while the "enhanced" grip is optimal.
