The glories of the past
When one thinks of the closest connection between the Pietro Beretta Arms Factory and the world of football, the figure of Piercarlo Beretta immediately comes to mind. Pietro's son, the company's number one after World War II, became president of Brescia Calcio back in 1959 and held the position until 1970. It was an important decade, highlighted by the club's promotion to Serie A in 1965 (after an 18-year wait). Now that bond could be strengthened, as was evident in the last home match played by Union Brescia (the current name of the "swallows" club).
A “special” derby
At the "Rigamonti" stadium, the Lombardy team hosted Desenzano in a Group A match of Serie C. The derby ended victorious, with the blue-and-whites prevailing by a narrow margin, but the appearance of the Beretta logo on Union's pre-match shirts also sparked excitement. Simply put, the Gardone Val Trompia factory was the match sponsor of the day, a clear sign that the passion for the green rectangle has never been abandoned. It's no coincidence that Carlo Gussalli Beretta, heir to the famous dynasty, has always followed the sport.
The next date
Beretta was a match sponsor for Union Brescia as part of its 500th anniversary celebrations. In addition to the logo on their warm-up shirts, some employees had the opportunity to step onto the pitch before kickoff. This isn't an isolated initiative, however: on December 20th, the Lombardy team will play their final match of the first half of the season at the Rigamonti stadium against Lumezzane (another derby), and the same initiative will be repeated against Desenzano.
