What could happen
Discussions regarding the potential use of agricultural land in the Brescia lowlands have been a hot topic in recent weeks. A mega solar panel system , covering 79 hectares, is planned in Esenta di Lonato, bordering Bedizzole. This land would clearly be taken away from agriculture and game, regardless of the legality of the proposed developments.
Environmental impact
In Travagliato, a Mega Data Center is envisioned, with some environmental impact concerns and the inevitable rising temperatures in the surrounding area. In Lonato, a large Garda wastewater treatment plant is planned, finally, but with extensive land use. In Orzinuovi, three large solar power plants. In Mazzano, solar power plants are planned with the redevelopment of a former landfill site.
Legitimate questions
Without any attempt to judge, we know full well that what we call progress cannot be stopped, but we simply wonder whether it would be possible for the public to significantly incentivize the use of existing building roofs, especially industrial ones, at least for the installation of solar panels, without necessarily having to reclaim further land from agricultural use and all that goes with it (source: FIDC Brescia – Cacciapensieri).
