Hunting in Lombardy. “We have chosen to appeal against the government's decision to automatically bring forward the closure of the hunting calendar by ten days as regards hunting the Cesena; a much debated issue, which required a serious reflection on what were the methods and timing by virtue of which regional prerogatives were violated ”.
This was explained by the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Gianni Fava, regarding the decision of the Lombardy Region to oppose recourse to the government measure of last January 15, with which the Council of Ministers approved the modification of the hunting calendar of six regions, including Lombardy; regions that had not complied with the warning to change their hunting calendar in the 15 days following the notification of the warning itself, bringing forward the closing of the cesena hunting.
Lombardy Region has not complied with the warning, considering that the deadline for closing the Cesena hunt on 31 January is in line with what is indicated in the 'Guide for the drafting of hunting calendars, pursuant to law 157/92, amended by Community law 2009 , art. 42 'drawn up by Ispra and that therefore the reasons underlying the government resolution are unfounded.
NO DISCOMMITMENT - "Contrary to the jumble of rumors that certainly gave the Lombardy Region a disengagement in this sense - commented Fava - we decided to take the path of judicial appeal to ensure, for the next hunting calendars, the respect of our prerogatives and of our regional law.
I would like to reiterate, however, that our initiative is different from that of other Regions: while some have appealed to the TAR on an issue that concerned the annulment of a resolution, in our case the prerogatives of the Lombardy Region are violated, not considering its recourse to a regional law valid, which has never been annulled so far ".
WE KEEP HARD ON THE ACHIEVEMENTS - "We keep the commitment taken with our hunters, at least the more 'serious' part - continued the commissioner - who asked us to 'hold on' on the achievements of recent years that have allowed us to keep certain hunting methods, despite the ever increasing pressure from the central government ”.
“A sort of persecution - added Fava - which almost always turns into hostile acts on the part of Ispra on the subject. We take note of it; it would have been more useful, also on the part of the hunting world and its organizations, if there had been a univocal consensus around our position. Which I do not register, given the fact that someone has chosen to make political speculations certainly not in favor of the category ".
