The Campania Regional Council, on the proposal of President De Luca, approved the
hunting calendar for the 2017-2018 season in the session of 14 June. “Also this year the calendar was approved by June 15, the deadline prescribed by the relevant legislation, we are in the fourth consecutive year. The hunting calendar just approved was based on the precautionary principle, as requested by the European Commission, in order to ensure greater protection of the fauna subject to hunting ”.
The calendar establishes the periods in which it is possible, for each of the admitted species, to carry out hunting activities. The start is set for October 1st, anticipated in pre-opening to September 2-3-6-11-14, in the temporary posting mode, for the dove only, for the magpie, the jay and the hooded crow. . The season will end on January 31, 2018, the deadline extended to February 10 for the magpie, the jay, the hooded crow and the wood pigeon. For quail only, the opening is scheduled on the third Sunday of September (17 September) until 30 October. Prefer traditional hunting with the dog, from 1 October to 31 January for pheasant, snipe, whisk and fox. Lapwing and water rail always from 1st October to 31st January.
Among the main novelties of this hunting calendar of the Campania region 2017/2018, the closure on 31 January 2018 also for turdidae (song thrush, cesena and sassello) is highlighted the limitation of the levy for anatidae from 1 October to 20 January. Likewise, the levy for woodcock from 1 October to 20 January. For the hare, the blackbird, the lark and the wild boar the dates are confirmed from October 1st to December 31st. For the latter species, the possibility for the hunter of occasional killing in single form is introduced. While the period from 1 October to 30 November remains for the wild rabbit and partridge. Dog training in the period between 2 August and 16 September. EPS for the management of the natural and faunal heritage, the hunting association in support of an idea of sustainable harvesting in respect of the earth and the environment.
Last news, but not least, in order to enhance the "voluntary" commitment carried out by the hunter in wildlife and environmental management, as a "sentinel of the landscape" and to promote the growth of biodiversity by ensuring the maintenance of natural habitats over time, in the calendar hunting, further prescriptions are foreseen in the general rules for the hunter who is required to:
- warning of sightings of forest fires;
- collaboration with the authorities in charge of fire extinguishing and containment activities;
- reporting of cannabis crops;
- reporting of hydrogeological instability and landslides;
- signposting of paths and collaboration for their maintenance;
- collaboration with the authorities in charge of searching for lost people.
