Following a formal invitation by the Assessor Caputo, it was held on 17.06.2021 at the Offices of the Regional Department of Campania agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing a meeting with all regional hunting associations to discuss the issuing of the hunting calendar for the 2021/2022 season. The representatives of the hunting associations present, while welcoming and acknowledging alderman Caputo that most of the observations made by almost all the hunting associations together with the most representative agricultural ones, in the Regional Wildlife Hunting Technical Committee, were incorporated within the predicted schedule, however, reiterated their absolute opposition to the decision not to carry out the hunting activity in the pre-opening period.
Through the comparison that took place also in the presence of the competent Regional Offices, an attempt was made to refute with scienti fi c data and technical arguments the reasons that according to the latter do not allow the exercise of some huntable species for at least three days in the aforementioned pre-opening period. This discussion, despite not having obtained the desired outcome from most of the Campania hunters, has, however, allowed us to open a useful debate with the commissioner and his of fi ces regional not only on the possibility of reviewing this decision for next year but also on the many problems of the hunting world of Campania.
To this end, all the associations present have made themselves available for periodic meetings through which they can participate and support any decision-making processes concerning the hunting activity, this in order to avoid unjust restrictions for all Campania hunters. Therefore, it is hoped that future regional decisions on hunting matters will be more attentive to the needs of the hunting world and not based on mere political and bureaucratic choices that are difficult to share (Arci Caccia, Enalcaccia, Federcaccia, ANLC, ANUUM Migratoristi e Italhunt).
