A strong and sustainable Abruzzo
Today, Coldiretti Abruzzo will take to the streets to demonstrate in front of the Regional Council headquarters in L'Aquila. This demonstration will mark "a decisive moment for the agricultural future of the Abruzzo regionAccording to Coldiretti, starting at 9:00 a.m., hundreds of farmers from all provinces will gather in front of the Chamber to present Coldiretti Abruzzo's program platform, "Five Points for the Growth of a Strong and Sustainable Abruzzo."
Who will present the political document
As the region prepares to celebrate Christmas, Coldiretti is sending a loud and clear message: "The challenges facing the agricultural sector don't go on holiday. With tractors, flags, and a cart for emergency interventions, farmers will demand concrete policies to ensure a solid future for Abruzzo's agriculture." The policy document will be presented by regional president Pietropaolo Martinelli and director Marino Pilati, with speeches also expected from the provincial presidents: Alfonso Raffaele, president of Coldiretti L'Aquila, Emanuela Ripani (Teramo), Pier Carmine Tilli (Chieti), and Giuseppe Scorrano (Pescara). Coldiretti Abruzzo's five-point project platform revolves around issues crucial to the competitiveness and resilience of regional agricultural businesses: administrative simplification; targeted interventions to grow agri-food supply chains; enhancement of mountain areas and wildlife control; Protecting resources, particularly water, through the infrastructure redevelopment of Land Reclamation Consortia; and business-friendly legislation.
A clear signal
"A protest on Christmas Eve is a clear signal," says Martinelli. "Time is running out, and we can no longer afford delays on vital issues such as streamlining and protecting our farmers' incomes. On Tuesday, December 16, we will be in L'Aquila to present a concrete platform and ask the Region for a serious and immediate commitment to placing agriculture and its supply chains at the center of Abruzzo's economic and social development. Living mountains, protecting water resources, and supporting our excellences, such as olive oil, wine, and livestock, are non-negotiable pillars." Pilati, director of Coldiretti Abruzzo, emphasizes that the December 16 demonstration, following the Village that Coldiretti promoted in Pescara just a month ago, "represents a crucial moment to reaffirm the importance of truly sustainable and forward-looking agriculture. Abruzzo has a unique agricultural heritage,” Pilati explains, “but the Region must be ready to respond with concrete actions to support our farms, secure their future, and preserve the environment. It is essential that our sector receive structural support, with policies that incentivize its competitiveness and sustainability.”
