Support for the regional agricultural sector
The imminent publication of the Calls for Proposals for the Rural Development Complement (CSR) Molise 2023-2027 is a first step towards concrete support for the regional agricultural sector. This is the first comment by Coldiretti Molise following the presentation of the new CSR Calls illustrated yesterday (29.10.2024) by the Councilor for Agriculture, Salvatore Micone, together with the President of the Region, Francesco Roberti. No less relevant was the communication by Councilor Micone, of wanting to allow agricultural businesses from next year, together with the applications for organic (SRA29) or integrated (SRA01), also that of the compensatory allowance (SRB01); an opportunity that this year had been inhibited and made incompatible. A decision that added to the linear cut of 20% on surface measures left Coldiretti Molise strongly "perplexed".
Molise economy
The primary sector, in fact, despite the great difficulties of the moment, produces, as underlined by President Roberti himself, a large part of the region's GDP, thus representing a cornerstone of the Molise economy. Agricultural and livestock companies are not limited "only" to producing healthy and genuine food for the entire community but also promote employment and represent an indispensable protection and maintenance of the territory, increasingly exposed, especially in internal areas, to the risk of hydrogeological instability, abandonment and depopulation.
Priorities for the sector
In this regard, on the sidelines of the last meeting of the "green table", which met in recent days, the Regional Director of Coldiretti Molise, Aniello Ascolese, highlighted a series of priorities for the agricultural sector, asking for particular attention from the Councilor. One of the first interventions to be implemented as soon as possible is undoubtedly the reduction in the number of wild boars that are continuing to cause damage and forcing the closure of dozens of agricultural and livestock companies. An intervention that would be achievable through the activation of all the measures provided for in the PRIU, the plan for the eradication of ASF - African swine fever, approved last June by the Region. "In addition to this - says Ascolese - it would be absolutely necessary to proceed with the implementation of art. 19-ter which modifies Law 157/92 by providing for a specific extraordinary plan for captures, slaughter and disposal, which is valid throughout the national territory, regardless of the emergency linked to African swine fever".
Interventions that can no longer be postponed
An operation that can no longer be postponed, also considering the fact that in Molise there are about 140 specialized farms and about 3550 family-run ones for a total of over 35 pigs, compared to an underestimated presence of over 40.000 wild boars. In addition to this, the issue of the uncontrolled increase in "parks" for energy production also takes on great importance. "A question of extreme importance - explains Ascolese - since these plants take away fertile and cultivable land from agricultural activity, where excellent productions also exist, without forgetting the landscape damage that these areas suffer and the distortions in the prices of rents and sales of land since the large energy multinationals offer exorbitant figures to agricultural entrepreneurs to build such plants in the territories". Coldiretti, in this regard, recalls that on July 21st, the Ministerial Decree of June 2024st 180 on the 'Regulations for the identification of surfaces and areas suitable for the installation of renewable energy systems' was published in the Official Journal. The text provides that the Regions draw up the map of suitable areas on their territory within 2025 days from the date of publication in the Official Journal, or by January XNUMXst XNUMX (source: Coldiretti Molise).
