The FITAV Regional Combined Shooting and Country Rifle Shooting Championships are in the final stages. Next Sunday, June 1st, the last two stages at Tav Vergato, in the province of Bologna and at Tav La Tranquilla in San Calogero (Vv). The championship began on April 6 at Tav S.Fruttuoso, then continued at Tav San Quirico in the province of Alessandria, then at Tav Vetralla (Vt), at Tav Leonessa in Melfi (Pz) and, on Sunday 25 May, at Tav Follonica in the province of Grosseto. The Vergato and San Calogero competitions are also valid for access to the FITAV Italian Individual Championship of Combined Shooting and the Experimental Grand Prix of Italy of Country Rifle Shooting which will take place respectively on 8 and 7 June at Tav Piancardato (Pg). The two regional tournaments at the antipodes of Italy, in Emilia-Romagna and Calabria, are open to individual shooters and teams competing in the FITAV Regional Championship. The Combined Shooting includes: two series of 25 Compak and Hunters' Fossa clays; Rifle shooting at 100 meters at the Roe Deer target from a pole, at the Fox target from the ground, at the Chamois target from a stick, at the Wild Boar target in an upright position without any aid (for each target 5 shots in 5 minutes); third and final test at the Wild Boar target running in the shoulder, always 5 shots within 5 minutes at a distance of 50 meters.
As is known, the Country rifle FITAV It consists of 20 rifle shots at 100 meters on 4 targets in 4 positions and 5 shots at 50 meters on a mobile target. "In addition to the normal qualifications for the Italian Championship, we are also making selections to form the team that will represent Italy at the European Cup and the FITASC European Championship from 27 to 29 June in Požega, Croatia", explains Alfonso d'Amato, Technical Director of the FITAV Combined Shooting. "We have encountered some difficulties because in Italy this type of shooting has not been well understood, the clubs are almost unfamiliar with it, although it is not exactly new. However, we are starting again now, rolling up our sleeves, because we are convinced that this shooting discipline has great potential because it is the complete hunter's shot. So far, about a hundred shooters have been involved, but we have just started working on it. Those who do Compak can shoot rifles very well, since many are also selectors, so they don't have to equip themselves from scratch, they already have the tools, they just have to put together the expertise. The regional delegates of the Federation have given us great support in the search for the fields and, at the moment, even if we started late, we have organized the competitions in nine regions. By the end of the year, with these regions and these fields we will meet and organize to grow the discipline. Country rifle is experimental, but it is always part of the FITASC rifle world".
The team that will represent Italy in the FITASC Combined Shooting discipline will come out of the first five that will be classified in the final of the Italian Championship and one at the discretion of the Technical Director. The report already shows good performances for the "old acquaintances": Filippo Simoni (winner of the Grand Prix at the Tav S.Fruttuoso), Flavio Formis, Paolo Pozzati, Simone and Paolo Borghesa, Flavio and Massimo Peirano, Gazmir Gazi Gjishti, Giambattista Sabia, Gianluca Anzuini, Sara Birelli, Renato Vitelli.
