The FITAV Regional Combined Shooting and Country Rifle Championships are nearing their final stages. Next Sunday, June 1st , the final two stages will be held at the Vergato Shooting Range in the province of Bologna and the La Tranquilla Shooting Range in San Calogero (province of Viterbo). The championship began on April 6th at the San Fruttuoso Shooting Range, then continued at the San Quirico Shooting Range in the province of Alessandria, then at the Vetralla Shooting Range (province of Viterbo), the Leonessa Shooting Range in Melfi (province of Potenza), and, on Sunday, May 25th, at the Follonica Shooting Range in the province of Grosseto. The Vergato and San Calogero competitions also count towards the FITAV Individual Italian Combined Shooting Championship and the Experimental Italian Grand Prix in Country Rifle Shooting, which will be held on June 8th and 7th, respectively, at the Piancardato Shooting Range (province of Perugia). The two regional competitions at the antipodes of Italy, in Emilia-Romagna and Calabria, allow individual shooters and teams to compete in the FITAV Regional Championship. The Combined Shooting event includes: two series of 25 clays each for Compak and Hunter Fossa; rifle shooting at 100 meters for the Roe Deer target from a post, the Fox target from the ground, the Chamois target from a stick, and the Wild Boar target in a standing position without any aids (five shots in five minutes for each target); the third and final test is the Wild Boar running in a shouldered position, again five shots within five minutes at a distance of 50 meters.
As is known, the Country rifle FITAV It consists of 20 rifle shots at 100 meters on 4 targets in 4 positions and 5 shots at 50 meters on a mobile target. "In addition to the normal qualifications for the Italian Championship, we are also making selections to form the team that will represent Italy at the European Cup and the FITASC European Championship from 27 to 29 June in Požega, Croatia", explains Alfonso d'Amato, Technical Director of the FITAV Combined Shooting. "We have encountered some difficulties because in Italy this type of shooting has not been well understood, the clubs are almost unfamiliar with it, although it is not exactly new. However, we are starting again now, rolling up our sleeves, because we are convinced that this shooting discipline has great potential because it is the complete hunter's shot. So far, about a hundred shooters have been involved, but we have just started working on it. Those who do Compak can shoot rifles very well, since many are also selectors, so they don't have to equip themselves from scratch, they already have the tools, they just have to put together the expertise. The regional delegates of the Federation have given us great support in the search for the fields and, at the moment, even if we started late, we have organized the competitions in nine regions. By the end of the year, with these regions and these fields we will meet and organize to grow the discipline. Country rifle is experimental, but it is always part of the FITASC rifle world". 
The team that will represent Italy in the FITASC Combined Shooting discipline will be selected from the top five finishers in the Italian Championship finals, plus one at the discretion of the Technical Director.
