La The Tuscan Regional Authority with resolution n ° 175 of 17/02/2020 made some important corrective changes on the Fox control plan. In particular, it is specified in the new resolution that the dogs used for control activities do not necessarily have to be those authorized by theENCI (Italian National Dog Association) or who are in possession of the certificate of enrollment in the Enci herd books, but also subjects "trained as selective dogs on the fox species". “A correction that we strongly asked for” - declares Marco Salvadori President Federcaccia Tuscany.
"Together with the other associations belonging to the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters, we asked the councilor and the competent offices to exceed the limits of the previous resolution, to allow a wider spectrum of specialized subjects to be able to intervene to guarantee and expand the control actions that are taking place in the territory and in the various Faunal Institutes". An important and appreciable step forward!
Unfortunately, despite this, there are still limits and criticalities as regards the provisions and contents present in the various control plans of the so-called opportunist species (Fox, Corvids, Columbidae etc.), which in fact prevent or severely limit the effectiveness of the control interventions and the related management actions, with the inevitable negative repercussions that result on the sensitive species concerned such as, for example, galliformes and lagomorphs. In this regard, the Tuscan Hunters Confederation deems it necessary to reopen a discussion table with the Tuscany Region and the various interested parties, aimed at clarifying and overcoming some incomprehensible rigidities expressed by ISPRA already highlighted for some time also by numerous Tuscan ATCs.
