The reels were the go-betweens!
The editorial staff of Caccia Passione is pleased to host today the thought of Stephen Castellani, a Roman hunter and true hunting influencer, shared a deeply resonant reflection. Castellani's passion for game cuisine is truly strong, and in recent days, some of his reels featuring this type of dish have earned him new followers, not just hunters. And it's precisely from this observation that his thoughts are born.
Ethics and morals
Here are Castellani's words: “We've long understood that hunting is a difficult thing to accept these days, and the ruling issued a few days ago regarding the ban on hunting on private land for "ethical and moral" reasons has reminded us of this once again. It should be noted that this isn't a simple matter of "nothing said and done," yet the Council of State's ruling has set a dangerous precedent. In a hostile and adverse climate like this, cuisine can be one of the avenues through which we can enhance and restore credibility to hunting and related activities.".
The right compromise
"Sustainability and minimal environmental impact are all concepts we hear like a mantra these days, and for those who choose to eat meat, game represents the perfect balance between quality and sustainability. What's more sustainable and healthy than a game-based dish when you decide to eat meat? Healthy, low-fat meat, rich in protein, from animals raised free-range in their natural habitat and fed on what they find in nature; it's impossible to find better.".
Minimal impact on the environment
"Clearly, not everyone can enjoy the privilege of eating game, and fewer and fewer people are able to accept that a living being can become food, despite this having been the case for millennia. However, without distinction, everyone needs food and everyone can still choose what to eat, but few do so consciously. Those who choose to consume exclusively game (or meat from small local farms) are aware that they will reduce their consumption and benefit from higher quality. Although hunting is unfortunately seen as an obsolete activity today, it should be considered one of the main activities that provides people with a genuine food with minimal impact on the environment, and this is, regardless of our beliefs, a fact.".
