Continuous predations
For several weeks now the wolves They have hit the headlines, causing serious concern among residents in the Rimini area, having been involved in several gruesome incidents, including the predation of a small dog kept in the garden of a private home. To document such situations and bring them to the attention of the relevant authorities, the National Coordination of Female Hunters (Federcaccia) has long been engaged in collecting data on wolf predation on hunting, working, and domestic dogs.
Social alarm
The Federcacciatrici also began a fruitful collaboration with ISPRA, conducting the first "Wolf Knowledge Course" and developing the questionnaires needed to gather information on cases of this type. On this occasion, the Coordination Committee reported to ISPRA what was happening, particularly the social alarm being generated in the area, and received assurances from the Institute that the Emilia-Romagna Region had already responded.
ISPRA Protocol
As on other occasions and as summarized in the recent protocol proposed by ISPRA, the Region has initiated public information campaigns while continuing to monitor the situation. We have also learned that the Region is authorized to implement deterrent measures for the species and intends to proceed accordingly. We therefore take this opportunity to emphasize the importance of the collaboration of our members, who have made themselves available to record similar events and incidents, a crucial step in documenting and alerting the relevant authorities regarding these cases (National Coordination of Female Hunters, Federcaccia).
