New operating modes
Cia Abruzzo expresses deep concern about Regional Resolution No. 516 of August 5, with which the Region approved the new operating procedures for granting contributions for damage caused by wild fauna . Representing hundreds of agricultural and livestock businesses, Cia Abruzzo denounces the impracticability of the established procedures and calls for the immediate suspension of the measure, accompanied by the urgent convening of a technical meeting with the Professional Agricultural Organizations.
An insurmountable obstacle
“ While acknowledging the principle of ensuring transparency and clear rules ,” declares Nicola Sichetti, president of Cia Abruzzo, “the new operating methods risk becoming an insurmountable obstacle for companies, already severely tested by the growing damage caused by wild fauna .”
The main difficulties
Among the critical issues reported:
- Unsustainable procedural burdens and unrealistic timeframes, which paralyze agricultural activity and make it difficult to apply
- Unfair assessment mechanisms, which expose companies to the risk of under-compensation, especially for small damages
- Compensation is unpredictable, subject to the availability of funds and lacking a dedicated and adequately financed regional fund
What the CIA wants
For this reason, Cia Abruzzo asks:
Suspension of the resolution from 1 September 2025
Shared rewriting of procedures with agricultural representatives
The establishment of a certain and adequate regional fund
The recognition of full compensation (100%) for the damages ascertained, to protect the economic and social role of farmers
" Farmers and ranchers cannot be left alone to face a problem that threatens the sustainability of their businesses and the balance of the land," Sichetti concludes. " An immediate, concrete, and shared response is needed ."
