Central Technical Commission
With reference to the Dutch Shepherd breed, it is communicated that the Central Technical Commission of theENCI has ordered the suspension of dogs that will be registered in the Genealogical Book with a "tawny" coat, a color not foreseen by the reference standard, pending the outcome of the parental verification.
FCI Standards
If the single dog of the breed in question is compatible with the declared parents, it will be admitted to reproduction exclusively with subjects not carrying the recessive K locus, so as to disadvantage non-brindle coats as foreseen by the FCI standard 223/9.1.2020.
Genetic testing
Therefore, it will be necessary to carry out the genetic test on the potential breeder and send it to ENCI, at least 30 days before the scheduled mating, in order to request authorization for mating. This provision comes into force from 1 January 2025 (source: ENTE NAZIONALE CINOFILIA ITALIANA).
