Changes to the 2023-2024 calendar
Hunting calendar modified in an arbitrary manner: a now common practice for the Council of Emilia Romagna region that of modifying the hunting calendar without the opinion of either the Assembly Commission or the opinion of Ispra, which becomes mandatory only when convenient. It is now known that, following an appeal from the Abolition Hunting League (Lac), section II of the Bologna Regional Administrative Court, inexplicably departing from the previous ordinance which had rejected the suspension requested by environmentalists for the 2022-2023 hunting calendar, this year, however, has accepted the request for suspension of some important parts of the Emilia-Romagna hunting calendar for the current season.

And this year too, the calendar is modified, in defiance of regional and national legislation - highlight the regional councilors of the Carroccio - Massimiliano Pompignoli and Matteo Rancan - signatories of the Question Time filed this morning "And it is not pure procedural sophistry, because this calendar it was approved by the Council of the Emilia-Romagna Region without having discussed the approach with the competent Assembly Commission in evident contrast with the provisions of the regional legislation and with effects evidently detrimental to the competences of the commissioners themselves. Hunters and associations need and want answers: we cannot turn to the Council of State every year for the appeals that environmentalist associations bring against the hunting calendar" - highlights Councilor Massimiliano Pompignoli who insists "The question comes spontaneously: it is perhaps lacking of some elements? Maybe it should be supported by more technical-scientific elements? Perhaps it was necessary to redo a new hunting calendar based on greater technical-scientific elements? I believe and reiterate, once again, that it has now become essential and urgent to involve hunting associations and scientific institutes more. Or, I wonder, if there is a purely political problem that underlies the shortcomings of the hunting calendar because, I realize, it is not easy to agree on a political majority held up by the green and environmentalist parties."
The importance of hunters
“We will always reiterate the importance of hunters who represent an asset for our territory and we remind the councilor and the council that hunters pay their taxes only after the annual hunting calendar comes into force or shortly before the start of the activity itself and it is already the second consecutive year that hunting days have been reduced” – highlight Pompignoli and Rancan, respectively President of the Budget Commission and group leader as well as National Secretary of Emilia. Councilor Mammi is nebulous on the merits of the question and on the procedure adopted and cites a series of articles and, at the same time, declares that the Region has finally evaluated the possibility of appealing against the order of the Administrative Court of Bologna, promising a subsequent information to the Directors. “We are therefore waiting for the Councilor to come and report to the Statute and Regulations Commission to shed light on the legislation and to prevent this practice from becoming the new normal” – conclude the League councilors, urging the Council and Councilor Mammi to do greater transparency.
