Better service
As widely anticipated, starting from 18 September 2023, we are starting with the Lazio Region to release a better interface service between ENCI and Canine Registry, a pilot project for the purposes of a simplified and more complete alignment at a national level. The ENCI computer system will automatically acquire the microchip number of the puppies registered in the Lazio Canine Registry. The procedures for breeders remain unchanged, with the advantage that the Canine Registry will officially confirm the dog's breed only when the ENCI pedigree certificate is issued.
Access to the information system
In fact, by virtue of Legislative Decree 529 of 1992, a dog can be defined as "thoroughbred" only if this quality is attested by the certificate issued by the ENCI. The owner of the dog, after having completed the registration in the Book of Origins, will be able to independently access the information system of the Lazio Region (SIP) to download free of charge the new certificate of registration in the canine registry showing the breed to which he belongs and the registration code to the ENCI herd book.
Fight against illegal importation
All this with the aim of aligning the two registers aimed at improving and simplifying procedures for the benefit of breeders also as a necessary tool to combat the illegal importation of puppies. The Canine Registry will only accept a dog registered in the stud book as a purebred dog. For registration in the Canine Registry of Lazio of foreign dogs with pedigrees issued by Kennel Clubs recognized by the FCI, the breed to which they belong will naturally be reported (source: ENCI).
