What the text provides
“In these hours we are reading reconstructions that speak of 'beach hunting' Following the approval of Amendment 6.71, which I presented. I feel it is my duty to clarify what the approved text actually provides. The amendment does not authorize hunting on beaches, does not eliminate safety regulations, and does not permit hunting in the presence of bathers, tourists, or citizens who frequent the coast." This was stated in a statement by Senator Anna Maria Fallucchi of the Brothers of Italy party, a member of the Senate Committee on Industry, Commerce, Tourism, and Agri-food Production.
Maritime State Property
The amendment concerns wildlife and hunting planning and overcomes a provision that would have indiscriminately excluded the entire maritime public domain from land use planning. It is important to remember that the maritime public domain does not consist solely of beaches intended for bathing, but also includes lagoons, river mouths, fishing valleys, and numerous coastal wetlands that represent ecosystems of great natural and environmental value, such as that of the GARGANO. The amendment arises from the need to prevent profoundly different areas from being treated in the same way through a blanket ban, without taking into account the specific territorial, environmental, and management characteristics that characterize the different areas of our country. All provisions of national and European legislation protecting the environment, biodiversity, and public safety remain fully in force.
Balance, competence and respect
Furthermore, all restrictions regarding protected areas, zones subject to special protection regimes, and the safety distances required by law remain in effect. Discussing wildlife management means addressing complex issues that require balance, expertise, and respect for diverse sensitivities. For this reason, I believe it is important that public debate be based on the actual content of the regulations and not on slogans that risk generating alarmism and misinformation. My commitment, as always, is to work for responsible land management, capable of combining environmental protection, citizen safety, ecosystem conservation, and the valorization of traditional activities as required by law. Citizens deserve clarity. And clarity requires reading the texts and evaluating them for what they actually provide, not for what some claim they provide.
