Regulation 2025
On the basis of the field testing of the ranking rules applied in the 2024 sporting year, which highlighted a series of shortcomings, we are working to define the 2025 Federal Ranking of Olympic Trench and Skeet in order to make it fairer. While waiting for the final definition and publication of the 2025 Regulation, Fitav would like to share some considerations with you.
What has changed
Last year the ranking was calculated in a simple way as the sum of the qualifying score with a final bonus score, this calculation did not allow for:
assign the correct degree of "difficulty" or weight of the race, since it did not take into account the type, the number and other situations surrounding the race itself
manage ties correctly
differentiate the races by type
Calculation refinement
To overcome these problems we are preparing a refinement of the calculation, through the identification of:
a maximum “qualification” score, no longer defined by the plates hit, but by a maximum value related to the type of competition. This allows on the one hand to set a value or weight of the competition, taking into account the various factors that make the competition more “important” or “complex”, more deserving of a higher ranking than others, on the other to proportion this value in relation to the position in the ranking and the penalties acquired. We called it Qualification Ranking.
we have managed the ties by distributing a small percentage (a decimal value less than one) that is related on the basis of the number of ties and their position in the ranking. We called it the Ranking of Ties. The bonus score for the final will be saved.
