Different fields of study
La quail It is one of the species that the European Commission is examining for a European adaptive culling plan, however, much data on the species is lacking and for this reason Federcaccia is engaged in various fields of study.
Attendance estimates
In the video below, the Coordinator of the Studies and Research Office of Federcaccia Nazionale explains the activities and the first results achieved, from monitoring pre-nuptial migration to telemetry, from hunting diaries to wing collection, from presence estimates to DNA analysis, up to the experimentation of a bioacoustics station.
Maintaining traditions
All collected data will be used to maintain hunting traditions related to quail, a key species for Italian hunters. Tracks of two quails tagged with a satellite transmitter on May 16, 2026, near Conero Park (AN). The track starting in the Adriatic Sea does not show the capture and tagging point due to a lack of signal, but it is the same capture point as the other individual.
