Small round tables
On Wednesday 31 January, at 18.00 pm, a new episode of EOS TALKS will be broadcast by EOS, a new cycle of events dedicated to topics relating to the world of hunting and fishing: small round tables in which experts in the sector discuss current hot topics, live on Facebook, marking the days that separate us from the opening of the Veronese event.
The importance of hunters
In this event the organizers will deal with the problem of African swine fever (ASF) and will also have as a guest the national President of the Italian Hunting Federation, Massimo Buconi. The extraordinary commissioner for African swine fever, Vincenzo Caputo, underlined the importance of hunters (defined as "bioregulators") in eradicating the virus. As is known, the Psa epidemic wave reached Italy on 7 January 2022, with the confirmation of positivity to the virus in a wild boar carcass found in the municipality of Ovada (Al).
How the check is proceeding
To date, 5 regions are affected: Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna. In Piedmont and Liguria the "front" is slowly but progressively expanding on the eastern and western sides of the primary infection areas. This determines the continuous remodulation of the restriction zones. Therefore the guard must be kept high and management expressly aimed at reducing wild boar densities. The round table with the presidents of Federcaccia and Libera Caccia aims to take stock of the situation and verify how the control activity by hunters is progressing. Remembering that control is not a hunting activity (source: FIDC).
