Ball shooting
The Spezzano Albanese (Cs) shooting range of the ASD Fidasc MS, captained by Mario Scorza and Giuseppe Marino, hosted the 2024 edition of what, once again, proved to be one of the most engaging and adrenaline-filled federal shooting competitions to the ball: the Champions Fidasc Italia. The competition is one of a kind: a shooting marathon that gradually reduces the number of participants by half. Step by step the athletes are reduced and in the end only one becomes the champion, winning the Trophy offered by the Asd Fidasc MS. The last 5 athletes remaining in the race decide the podiums foreseen by the regulations and while the fifth classified finishes his test, the others 4, based on the score of the last round taken, face the final challenge, respectively for third and fourth place and for first and second place.
The best scores
Commitment and concentration must be maximum from the first to the last minute of the race: technical skills and management of tiredness must in fact continue hand in hand until the last step. A single mistake can stop even the competition of those who have obtained the best scores up to that point. The Champions Fidasc Italia was born as a shooting competition, right at the MS, attracting more and more athletes' attention over time, growing and consolidating. Thanks to the foresight of the Regional Council, the determination of the Asd MS and the approval of the National President Felice Buglione, it has now become one of the most popular and sought-after federal competitions, almost equaling the numbers and values of the national championships. Wanting to quantify the importance that the event has assumed, suffice it to say that there were 101 registered participants, 19 more than those of the previous edition - in fact 99 participants came from Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Sicily, Umbria, Puglia and Tuscany – and that the technical level of the athletes on the platform was truly very high. A competition skilfully organized under the careful guidance of the National Coordinator of Ball Shooting, as well as Regional President of Calabria and, on this occasion, Fidasc Delegate Francesco Citriniti. Masterfully orchestrated on the field thanks to the incessant commitment of the staff of the organizing company, who managed the management of 9 simultaneous shooting lines.
Huge job
An enormous job was carried out without a break and in real time: more than 800 templates, of which at least 400 were prepared as the competition progressed and without this operation ever interrupting the alternation of the athletes on the platform, thanks also to the perfect coordination with the secretariat headed by Cesare Caroleo. Furthermore, the coordination between the firing line workers and the designated match officials was perfect: Vincenzo Sassano, Claudio di Napoli, Giuseppe Oliveri and the support officer Raffaele Fontanella. Great athletic preparation and a healthy sporting spirit were brought to the stage by each of the shooters but, beyond the competitive spirit and the right chase for the coveted podium, comparison and mutual respect also took place on the pitch. Once again it was nice to witness the metamorphosis that the athlete who becomes a spectator undergoes: certainly in the heart a hint of disappointment for not having reached the end of the race, but with the faces gradually more relaxed and smiling, all intent on doing the cheering and supporting the teammates who tenaciously continued the journey.
The prizes to be won
Perhaps the Champions Fidasc Italia is the event that more than any other offers the possibility of bringing to the field and showing, in addition to healthy competitive spirit, also the essential values of friendship and mutual respect. As official sponsors, Amanthia Gioielli, which offered the prize to the overall Champion and the Best Lady and RC Cartridges which offered cartridges and caps for the winners. But let's now get to the results. The Calabrian athlete Daniele Sandonato was proclaimed the absolute Fidasc Italia 2024 champion, while the Umbrian Antonio Paioli and the Lucanian Biagio Schettino (who repeated the bronze in the 2023 edition) ranked second and third. Followed by Enrico Cammarano from Campania and Tranquillo Fata from Calabria. Valentina Taddeo and Angelo Verrone from Campania won respectively as Best Lady and Best Junior (Source FIDASC).
