Firm condemnation
Given the ongoing controversy and the most disparate rumors, we are forced, despite ourselves, to take a stand on the incident involving the innocent victims of the geese of the "La Piccola" winery. According to reports, the geese were the victims of revenge after an argument between the owners and an unidentified group of hunters, who shot them. Federcaccia and the hunting community as a whole firmly condemn any demonstration or action contrary to the law, ethics, and the correct behavior on the part of hunters, on our part we can only express our strongest condemnation for what happened.
Volunteering and community support
A reckless act, attributable to one or very few individuals, which furthermore seriously harms the remaining 99% of local hunters, who respect the law and other people's property. For our members who live in that municipality and for hunters in general, who often dedicate their time and energy to volunteering and supporting the community and local associations involved in all social fields, it is in fact unfair, denigrating, and penalizing to be singled out as co-responsible for such unspeakable acts.
Too many insinuations
We would like to emphasize, however, that many rumors are not supported by objective facts, and that it will be extremely difficult for the police authorities to verify the facts, responsibilities, and individuals involved in this incident, given that the so-called "corpus delicti"—namely, the geese carcasses—were reportedly burned, leaving only rumors, innuendo, and social media posts. We therefore strongly condemn those who break the rules, but at the same time urge everyone to exercise caution before discrediting an entire category of citizens without supporting evidence.
