Respect for the law
The Arci Caccia of the Islands of Ischia, Capri and Procida announces that, starting from June 15th, as in previous years, the prevention plan of Forest fires. This plan includes AIB services – Forest Fire Sighting – with the aim of enhancing active citizen volunteering, involving especially young people, to promote respect for legality, the environment and nature. The aim is also to prevent sudden attacks on the territory and fauna, which in addition to damaging the environment, risk compromising the tourist image of our beloved island.
Who will be involved
The volunteer game wardens of the islands of Ischia, Capri and Procida will be involved, along with many volunteers and environmental observers who will make their time and skills available. The COT, Territorial Operations Centre of Civil Protection, has also been activated, to which reports regarding fires or suspected perpetrators of the same can be sent.
Criminal behavior
“This initiative,” emphasizes Emilio Galano, member of the National Presidency Office of ARCI CACCIA with responsibility for volunteering, civil protection and game wardens, “commits us all to defending the great natural heritage that we have. Unfortunately, there are heartless people who, with criminal behavior, cause very serious environmental disasters. The law provides for arrest in flagrante delicto and very severe penalties, including imprisonment. I also remember that the forest heritage is an asset of the entire community, not of a few, and that those who destroy it for personal interests damage the environment and the population, causing environmental disasters. Galano continues, adding that the fundamental role of the hunter is to guard, protect and defend the environment, thus contributing to the protection of our territory and its resources.”
