First concrete experience
On Wednesday 28th January, the platforms of theASD TAV Sant'Uberto of Manoppello (PE) provided the backdrop for an event brimming with emotion, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to get involved. Twenty students from the Gabriele D'Annunzio Classical High School in Pescara had the opportunity to experience firsthand the sensations and dynamics of competitive clay pigeon shooting, experiencing their first hands-on experience at the Abruzzo facility. The initiative, made possible thanks to the collaboration between the school and the local organization, was born out of the willingness of the school's management and the resourcefulness of Sports Science teacher Andrea Pomponio, who guided the class through an introduction to the discipline.
Intensity of the technical gesture
After an introductory session dedicated to discovering the technical characteristics and sporting values of clay pigeon shooting, the students moved on to the most anticipated phase: the practical test on the range, which they approached with curiosity, attention, and growing interest. Making the day even more meaningful were the emotions of their "first time on the range." Between concentration, new sensations, and a desire to learn, the students were able to experience the intensity of the technical movement firsthand and feel the satisfaction of landing their first clay target, accompanied each time by a genuine explosion of joy. The event is part of the federal project "FITAV adopts the School," which in Abruzzo is starting to produce concrete results, thanks in part to the work of the Regional Delegation led by FITAV Abruzzo Delegate Guido Margiotta, who was present throughout the event, both in the theoretical classroom phase and in the practical field phase.
New opportunities for participation
Also crucial was the commitment of Professor Massimo Tafuri, FITAV Collaborator and head of the Federal School Protocol, who is constantly active in organizing specific courses for the training of Physical Education teachers. This program, as demonstrated by the Manoppello experience, aims to create new opportunities for secondary school students to participate in competitive activities, strengthening the connection between school and sport. Finally, the support of the ASD TAV Sant'Uberto, the association's technical and management staff, and the professionalism of Elena Navelli, head of the Abruzzo Region's CAS, was crucial in welcoming and managing the activities. The Manoppello experience represents a significant first step toward organizing similar initiatives throughout the region, most of which are already underway. These initiatives may soon involve other regional clubs, broadening the project's scope and offering even more young people the opportunity to experience the exciting sport of clay pigeon shooting (source: FITAV).
