African swine fever
On June 19th at the Town Hall of Fiumicino, in the presence of Mayor Mario Baccini, the technical part relating to the Management of the Natural Reserve of the Roman Coast, involving the Italian Hunting Federation, was completed. A joint activity that began several months ago and was finalized on April 29 with a specific Municipal Resolution. The Municipal Administration, always sensitive to the needs of the agricultural world located in the territory of the Reserve Area - where damage caused by wild fauna and a territory under scrutiny for health reasons attributable to African Swine Fever and still under observation to avoid further deliveries, in order to prevent road accidents and Public Safety - is proceeding with the Management of the Reserve in synergy with Federcaccia Lazio and the Municipal Section of FIdC of Fiumicino, which provides highly specialized personnel.
Ungulates and large carnivores
A specialized technician has been appointed to implement the plan, who will have the collaboration of Federcaccia staff. Reports and articles in the media in the last period highlight how ungulates and large carnivores are invading the urban areas of the Municipality of Fiumicino and beyond.
A significant step
Mayor Mario Baccini states that the agreement includes concrete measures for monitoring and safeguarding native species and represents a significant step towards sustainable management of wildlife in the Fiumicino area. Following the agreement, Federcaccia has agreed to collaborate with Coldiretti in order to improve activities in the area and prevent damage on an ecological and environmental level.
