Hunting: the Province of Florence approves the new provincial hunting calendar valid for the 2013/2014 season.
The Provincial Councilor Crescioli: “The disturbance to wildlife has been minimized. We have met the opinions of ISPRA and the requests of environmental, agricultural and hunting associations ”The Hunting Calendar for the 2013/2014 season has been approved by the Provincial Government. The Calendar was developed taking into account the context dictated by the changes, compared to previous years, of the regional legislation on the subject, made following a ruling by the Constitutional Court.
They have generated changes in the regional hunting calendar both for the sampling times of the various species and for the annual game bags. The Provinces, however, have essentially maintained the same competences as in previous years, which concern in particular the setting of periods for hunting wild boar, the methods of hunting woodcock, the use of dogs and rambling hunting in January, the use of dogs followed. In all these cases the Province has maintained the same rules established in previous years, except for the resumption of fixed days of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday for wild boar hunting in non-suitable areas.
"It is our duty to thank - affirms the Councilor for the Environment, Soil Defense, Hunting and Fishing of the Province of Florence Renzo Crescioli - the agricultural and environmental associations, the hunting world and the ATCs for the contribution they have given in the headquarters of consultation and in any case for the daily commitment to a correct management of the fauna ".
On the same occasion, the council approved a provision which, with respect to the provisions of regional law, restricts the period and times in which it is possible to train and train hunting dogs. In order to protect the priority objective of safeguarding young game, in the development and addiction phase in August, and also in consideration of the fact that dog training activities in conjunction with the climatic situation of August can be a factor of physical stress for the game, especially when continued for many hours, the Board has decided to reduce, in the planned hunting area of the Province of Florence, the period for training and training hunting dogs, allowing it from 25 August to 12 September 2013 inclusive, with the exception of the SPAs for which they are more restrictive regional provisions are envisaged; as well as to reduce the hours of training and dog training throughout the territory for scheduled hunting, including that included in the SPAs, allowing them from sunrise to 10.00 and from 17.00 to 19.00.
“This is - explains Councilor Crescioli - a measure aimed at minimizing disturbance to wildlife, which we also adopt by meeting the opinions of ISPRA and the requests of the representatives of the major agricultural, environmental and even hunting associations”.
