New video
The summer of 2026 is a hot one, but so are the discussions surrounding hunting. Francesca Mattioli knows this well. With her page "Prime Armi" (in collaboration with the FIDC Hunters' Coordination), she's always very active in exploring the most pressing hunting issues. In her latest video, she discussed wildlife management.
An assignment that already exists
This is his reflection: " Hunting could soon become part of wildlife management in Italy too, which would bring us closer to other European countries like France and Germany. Hunters could therefore take on management roles (in fact, we are already doing so). Be careful, this isn't a recognition of merit; it's a responsibility entrusted to us based on our skills and which we must accept because it benefits the environment, legitimizing us in the eyes of the community ."
Hunting patrols are warned
Then a message to anti-hunting groups: " This doesn't mean that hunters, in any context, are engaging in bioregulation. It means that it's useful to leverage their skills in this regard. We know full well that our passion doesn't have any more impact than many other activities that aren't required to have such an agreement. We must acknowledge the emotional impact of a society that has suffered decades of conditioning if we want it to give us the recognition we deserve ."
Moving in nature
The role of hunters is very clear: " I know some of us turn up our noses, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to simply hunt without feeling like voluntary state assassins, but there's a way to make the system beneficial for everyone, and it involves the entire rural world of which we are a part (not as a barter but as a collaboration). Knowing how to navigate nature and its borderlands, knowing it and the wildlife that inhabits it, how it behaves, how it reacts, finding it, monitoring it, cataloging it, classifying it—it's no easy task. Anyone who knows how to do it, however, whether they pull the trigger or not, is a hunter ."
Competence, ethics and responsibility
Finally, a heartfelt appeal: “Enough with the Bambis, the innocent souls, the furry ones, it's time to restore dignity to nature, animals, and people. And to do this, we must all do our part with competence, ethics, and responsibility.".
