In truth, during the trip there were at least three, if you count the hunters, eight if you also count the hunting dogs. There was me and my two brothers and there was my spinone Sirius, a youngster and the four veteran pointers. Yet that trip I organized it for myself and for Sirius, my first spinone with which it was love at first sight.
We immediately liked Brittany, everyone, men and dogs. Probably due to the fact that he was staying at a fabulous estate, halfway between a botanical garden, a garden and a hunting lodge. La Sablière gardens are actually real botanical gardens, in which hunting is however allowed. The landscapes are sublime, and I have not regretted having traveled 2 thousand kilometers to be able to admire them. This was not the only reason that prompted us to move from our beautiful Po Valley.
There is also the fact that Brittany is a corner of the world that is particularly dear to the world woodcocks, and we love to chase the queen of the woods to every corner of the world. Here he winters quietly: he arrives in November and packs his bags during the first weeks of April, but it is never a goodbye. On the other hand, the temperature is comfortable, and when it freezes elsewhere, between the Atlantic and the Breton coast, the temperature never drops below zero: all thanks to the rather mild and temperate Gulf currents. Even the vegetation of the hinterland enjoys a favorable climate; the fertile humidity also guarantees the flowering of azaleas, mimosas and rhododendron bushes, particularly appreciated by woodcocks.
The owner of the botanical garden, Christian is a nice man of about 80 years old, who has now stopped hunting, and rather delights in counting his woodcocks to which he sometimes also gives nice nicknames. His favorite is the Grand Belle, and according to him, they have now become real "almost friends". FOLLOWS
