He does not come back after a hunting trip: the searches start but unfortunately the man is found dead next to his rifle. The tragedy took place in the area of Malga Valli in Val Caltea. Shortly after midnight on Saturday 2 October, the search for the non-return of Giacomo Peruz, optician, began 74 year old from Cordenons, who had left for la Saturday morning hunting trip. The Firefighters and Alpine Rescue of Maniago - the area is located on the border between the Alpine Rescue stations of Maniago and Pordenone - took action to look for him and shortly after two in the morning the man was found lifeless about three quarters of an hour's walk from the hut.

The medical examiner's report and the data collected on the spot showed that the man lost his life following a fall on rough ground from a height of about twenty-five meters. Not far from where he fell, a deer was found, also lifeless. To find the man's body were the Fire fighters but it was necessary to wait for the arrival of light to carry out the recovery of the body, after the finding of the coroner and the authorization of the magistrate, with the help of the helicopter of the Civil protection took off at dawn from Tolmezzo with some rescuers from the Alpine Rescue station of Maniago on board.

The 2026-2027 hunting calendar for the Aosta Valley has been approved: deer hunting begins September 6th.
