Serious injuries
A 30-year-old man from Rimini has been denied the compensation of over €2 million he had sought from the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Province following a road accident. According to the man's reconstruction, the serious injuries he sustained when his car went off the road were apparently caused by a wild boar suddenly crossing the road.
Compensation in detail
The financial request, however, was rejected by the Rimini Court. To be even more precise, the man requested €1,1 million for the biological damage suffered (disability greater than 90%), €300,000 for moral damages, €300,000 for existential damages, and another €1 million for the loss of earning capacity. The accident, which occurred around midnight in 2020, was reconstructed differently by the judges.
The speed detail
According to the Court, it's true that the wild boar's carcass was found near the accident, but there's no evidence that the ungulate was on the road shortly beforehand. Furthermore, the car was traveling at over 90 kilometers per hour, exceeding the speed limit, which contributed to the local authorities' absolving themselves of liability.
