The appeal to the TAR
The ruling issued last October by the judges of the Regional Administrative Court of Lazio is destined to be controversial (like many others). A man has in fact filed an appeal after the revocation of his hunting license due to what happened during an exercise that had nothing to do with hunting.
The episode in detail
Indeed, the incident involved archery practice, when the appellant shot an arrow that lodged in the passenger compartment of a van whose window was open, just inches from the driver's head. This behavior was deemed superficial and negligent, and therefore a factor of unreliability that led to the revocation of his rifle license.
The reasons for the new decision
The absence of injuries, the van driver's failure to report the incident, and the fact that the municipality had a specific safety plan in place allowed the Regional Administrative Court to rule differently. The license was returned, given that unreliability could not have been identified in such an incident. Furthermore, the incident itself was filed under criminal law as an accident and nothing more.
