A research carried out by several hands
Climate change is increasingly associated with alarming situations, brought up as explanations for rather peculiar events. Not even ungulates are “safe”, as demonstrated by the study conducted by the University of Sassari together with the Province of Belluno, the Provincial Police and the provincial guards of Treviso and Vicenza on chamois of Monte Grappa.
Iron health
According to what this research has ascertained, the species in question would have an iron health and would have modified its typical habits precisely to interface with climate change. Modifications, then, that can also be explained by the presence of the wolf in the area. The project that led to these interesting conclusions started some time ago.
The specimens examined
Specifically, the chamois were examined starting from the summer of 2023: 25 chamois from Monte Grappa and 5 wolves. Thanks to collars and GPS, it was understood that the health of the ungulates is excellent, so much so that the morality rate is practically close to zero. This is due to the new behaviors, namely the reduced frequentation of the areas at risk of wolves and the new schedules of their "activities".
